Yfm goes to kumasi… rebrands anigye fm … 102.5 dial… test transmission starts today… full transmission in october

Global Media Alliance is adding another unit to its YFM family.
Latest to join the Accra and Takoradi frequencies, is the Kumasi-based 102.5 FM.
The station, which starts test transmission today, will go full scale in October. Some staff from the Accra establishment have been sent to Kumasi to help kick it off.
An experiment that could prove somewhat successful depending on how the demographics favour them, YFM Kumasi is expected to tap into the Ashanti Region’s young and funky populace.
It would stay true to it’s young and youthful at heart credo, which has since made the brand a must-have for a large chunk of the people who fall within it’s target group.
Until now, 102.5 used to be Anigye FM, which was also owned by the the Edward Boateng-led group.
YFM is built on the highly successful South African model; same as the group’s television station, eTv, which also feeds heavily on content direction from it’s South African replica.
